We took her out to Tarzana today to go to Gentle Barn (www.gentlebarn.org). This is a house in a residential area that has farm animals for petting and such. She liked it a lot. We didn’t stay for the vegan potluck, though.
Lucinda found a dead squirrel in the back yard today. She was quite fascinated by it, since she likes all animals. We explained to her that the squirrel had died, and then we held a funeral for it. We dug a hole and put the squirrel in it. Lucinda picked some flowers to put in the hole alongside the squirrel, and then we covered it up. She then picked out some rocks to make a headstone for it.
We took Lucinda to her first movie today. It was the IMAX Dolphins movie (www.isci.ca/EN/imax/films-dolphins-index.htm) showing at the California ScienceCenter (www.casciencectr.org) in Exposition Park. She liked the dolphins, and she was only frightened a few times when there were particularly loud sounds. Overall, she said that she liked it.
Lucinda had her first modeling gig today. Aunt Maggi is currently working in marketing at Kaiser Permanente, and has Lucinda’s picture on her desk. Apparently they liked her ethnically ambiguous look. Outtakes from the photo shoot are in Lucinda’s photo album.
Lucinda got a small stuffed dog toy for her second birthday, and she has decided that its name is “Max”. This is the first time she has named one of her stuffed animals. She likes to drag Max around on a leash while saying, “walk Max.”
Lucinda is starting to make sentences. So far, her recordis three words. She looked up and saw a spider on theceiling, and she said, “spider up there.” She also makeslots of two-word sentences now.
Lucinda is really starting to use a lot of words now. They are not all completely understandable yet, but she’s talking a lot. We can usually figure out what she’s trying to say. In cases where we can’t, we can ask her, and she is able to understand us. This is fun.
