CicLAvia – L.A.Phil

Today’s bike ride was a visit to L.A. for yet another Ciclavia. This time, the theme was the 100th anniversary of the L.A. Philharmonic. The route went between the Hollywood Bowl and the Disney Concert Hall downtown.

On the way into Hollywood, we stopped off to see the Chandelier Tree. We’d all heard this past week that the city had ordered it shut down recently.

We rode across Franklin Ave to get to the Ciclavia route in Hollywood. That was where we saw the giant armadillo. Yikes. Then we just followed the route south and east from Hollywood to downtown L.A. In downtown, we turned off the route just before Disney Hall. Then we headed up Figueroa St, passing by My Favorite Building. The YMCA had us doing practice in that building again this year, and added it up from my records, and so far, I’ve climbed that building 223 times over the years.

When we got up to Chinatown, we took the little pedestrian bridge over the freeway, and then rode up and over the hill around Dodger Stadium. I’d remembered to look up to be sure there was not a game going on there today.

Our snack stop was at Spoke in Frogtown. Then we rode home by way of the Arroyo Seco bike path.

43 miles.
